Barry leads the firm's strategic direction, client delivery, and business development.
Barry started his career as an enlisted member of the United States Navy, supporting meteorological and oceanographic forecasting operations and providing information technology support across high-security networks. The Navy taught him how to perform under pressure and make sound decisions when there is no time to deliberate. Those habits carried forward into every role that followed.
After his service, Barry spent over a decade working inside some of the most demanding federal and defense environments in the country. At the Pentagon he helped design and stand up a security program for a newly established organization from scratch. At DHS headquarters he served as the senior cybersecurity and risk advisor across multiple mission areas, driving remediation efforts that got to root causes and producing executive briefings that moved leadership toward better decisions.
His experience in federal programs translates directly to commercial clients facing the same underlying challenges. Complex infrastructure, sensitive data, and technology programs that cannot afford to get security wrong. Barry has worked across all of it.
Barry holds a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity Management and Policy from the University of Maryland Global Campus, a Master of Science in Technology Leadership from Brown University, a Master of Professional Studies in Cybersecurity Risk Management from Georgetown University, and an Executive Certificate in Cybersecurity for Business Leaders from the University of Oxford. He is currently pursuing his MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He holds industry leading cybersecurity and technology certifications.
He co-founded Cytadel because he saw a gap between firms that could talk about security and firms that could actually deliver it. Cytadel is built around people who are exceptional at the work and a genuine commitment to approaching every problem with fresh thinking. That is the standard every engagement is held to.
